Korean Reading and Writing IV

This course, as continuation of Korean 241, is designed to further develop Intermediate-Mid to High skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Korean. At the completion of the course, students are expected to present their opinions and support them in a series of cohesive and logical paragraphs, using proper vocabulary and appropriate sentence structures. The class, organized with topic-based curriculum, will focus on both accuracy and fluency of comprehension and production skills with grammar, vocabulary and expressions commonly used in Korean. Students will also be exposed to authentic materials regularly for introduction of Korean culture and authentic language usage.


Fourth Year Korean II

This course allows advanced-level students to further develop their reading comprehension of authentic texts and the ability to discuss and write on various topics and issues related to contemporary Korea through the acquisition of advanced-level vocabulary and expressions. Furthermore, students are expected to be able to present their arguments and provide supporting details in coherent and cohesive manners when dealing with abstract topics that require them to think critically and organize their thoughts. Toward the end of a class, each student will choose an article on the topic of their choice, present their analysis and understanding while leading an in-class discussion, and write a short reflection essay based on the presentation and class discussion.
