Time Arts 1 explores the potential of time-based media for creative expression within the context of fine art and alternative media. This section of Time Arts will focus on “minor cinema” – practices that run counter to commercial film and television production, such as experimental animation, youth media, feminist and queer filmmaking, and video art. The course will include readings, screenings and discussions, and technical workshops. Students will produce an abstract computer animation, a documentary, and an experimental short film. The class depends on providing and receiving critical feedback on the developing work.
